The Ministry of Finance informed the appointment of Mr. Sebastián Sichel as the new chairman of BancoEstado
Santiago June 5, 2020. The Ministry of Finance informed the appointment of Mr. Sebastián Sichel as the new Chairman of BancoEstado, replacing Mr. Arturo Tagle.
Sichel holds an attorney at law degree from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and a Master degree in Public Law with minor in Constitutional Law from the same university.
Previous to this appointment, Mr. Sichel served as Minister of Social Development, a position he assumed in June 2019. Up to that time, between May 2018 and June 2019, he held an Executive Vice President position at the Chilean Economic Development Agency (Corfo).
From 2016 to 2018, he held a professorship and dean position at the School of Government of Universidad San Sebastian, as well as being a professor at the Center for Management Development at the Universidad Católica and pursuing graduate studies on Human Rights and Democracy at the University of Alcalá (Alcalá de Henares, Spain).
Treasury Secretary. Ignacio Briones, highlighted the career of Sebastián Sichel and stressed that his experience at Corfo and at the Ministry of Social Development will be extremely valuable elements for his new important role.
Finally, he thanked and emphasized the work of Mr. Arturo Tagle at BancoEstado for his valuable contribution to the modernization of the bank, which allowed firming up the public and social role of this state entity in the country, as well as reinforcing the inclusion of Chileans to the financial system.
